Mr Rahul Jayaram is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a sub-speciality interest in Head and Neck Cancer based at Northwick Park and Watford General Hospitals. He is qualified in both Medicine and Dentistry, winning several academic awards, scholarships and distinctions during this time. He has had a comprehensive training in all aspects of the speciality. His higher surgical training was based at St George’s, Guys and Kings College Hospital in London. Following completion of specialist training and achievement of the FRCS (OMFS) he embarked on overseas fellowships in Hamburg and Sydney.
He was awarded the prestigious British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO) and the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) travel awards for a visiting fellowship in Trans Oral Robotic Surgery in Hamburg, Germany.
Rahul then undertook the prestigious Chris O’Brien Fellowship at the world class Sydney Head and Neck Cancer Institute and had the privilege to be Head and Neck Fellow to Professor Jonathan Clark. These 12 months provided an excellent experience in ablative head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstructive surgery, perforator based free tissue transfers, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, trans oral robotic surgery dynamic facial reanimation techniques and thyroid surgery.
Apart from Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and advanced cutting edge reconstruction techniques, his practice includes dentoalveolar surgery (wisdom tooth and removal of roots), assessment of white/ red patches in the oral cavity, management of benign cysts & tumours of the Jaws (Ameloblastomas, Keratocysts, Dentigerous cysts) trauma, fat and bone grafting, dental implants, and salivary gland surgery (open and minimally invasive/ sialendoscopy).
Mr Jayaram is a core member of the Northwest London Head and Neck MDT. He has widely published and presented at both national and international meetings. His clinical and research interests include virtual surgical planning and patient specific reconstruction, structural fat grafting, Transoral robotic surgery and dynamic facial reanimation. Rahul is an enthusiastic trainer and is a faculty of various courses. Mr Jayaram has a sensitive, patient focussed, current and evidence based approach to his clinical work.
