Infectious and Tropical Diseases

The infectious disease department assesses and treats patients who suffer from symptoms of an infectious or tropical disease, for example, Tuberculosis (TB).

The infectious disease team is a multi-disciplinary team comprising consultants, specialist registrars, senior house offices and specialist nurses. The team perform a range of tests and investigations on the patient (blood tests to mantoux testing) to establish diagnosis and work closely with other services such as dermatology and the tissue viability team.

Once diagnosis is confirmed, patients will either be admitted for treatment or discharged with a treatment plan and followed up in a consultant's outpatient clinic.
